Radio Warneford Is Your Award-Winning Station!
Radio Warneford is celebrating after picking up the Bronze Award in the Special Event category at the 2013 National Hospital Radio Awards in Blackpool.
The awards were presented at a special ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Blackpool on Saturday 23rd March which marked the start of the 2013 Hospital Broadcasting Week.
Our successful entry featured coverage of the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay as it passed through Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwick, Leamington Spa and Kenilworth on Sunday 1 July 2012. Presenters Ben Mitchell (Stratford-upon-Avon), Paul Kalus and Louise Drinkhall (Warwick), Jude Ratclifffe (Leamington Spa), Ley Bricknell and Sara Lister (Kenilworth) chatted to people in the crowds as they waited for the torch to arrive and captured the excitement of the day so that patients could join in.
Stephen Boden and Sara Lister interviewed Radio Warneford member, Clare Spiers, who was one of the volunteer Games Makers for the London 2012 Olympics.

Fancy yourself as a bit of a broadcaster, entertaining listeners with witty anecdotes and soothing tunes? Radio Warneford is always on the lookout for new volunteers to join one of our broadcasting teams.
We've been broadcasting to patients for 39 years and we need people who are over the age of 18 to volunteer to help us as part of one of our weekday evening or weekend teams.
Volunteers will get requests from patients on the wards, help put programmes together and of course be fully trained up to broadcast live on air! However you must be able to commit to the same day or evening each week.
We currently have vacancies on a number of our evening and weekend teams.
