Date: 4 February 2012 Radio Warneford Shortlisted For Radio Warneford, the hospital broadcasting service based at Warwick Hospital, has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2012 Hospital Radio Awards. The station, which has been on air since 1973, is one of ten hospital radio stations from around the country to have been nominated for the final of the coveted Station Of The Year award. It has also been chosen as a finalist for the Best Station Promotion award. Radio Warneford had to submit a 15-minute compilation of broadcasting highlights from 2011 in order to be considered for Station Of The Year. The stations' on air promotion for A Christmas Carol, the first play to be recorded by the Radio Warneford Players, is up for the Best Station Promotion award. Judges from the Hospital Broadcasting Association, which represents the interests of hospital radio stations in the UK and abroad, have drawn up the shortlists in each category after listening to all of the submitted entries. The 2012 Hospital Radio Awards ceremony will take place in Nottingham on Saturday 31st March as part of Hospital Broadcasting Week with Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards presented to the top three entries in each of ten categories. Ley Bricknell, Radio Warneford's Station Manager, says "It's fantastic news that we have been shortlisted for these awards. Radio Warneford's volunteers work so hard all year visiting the wards and putting together programmes to keep patients entertained. The annual Hospital Radio Awards is a recognition of that dedication and of the high broadcasting standards that our members are able to achieve." Radio Warneford was shortlisted for the Special Event award in 2009 and was one of three finalists for the Station Of The Year award in 1996. For more information please contact Ley Bricknell.
