Radio Warneford Shortlisted For Broadcasting Award

Radio Warneford, the hospital broadcasting service for South Warwickshire, has been shortlisted for a broadcasting award.

The station will be competing for the Special Event award at the annual Hospital Radio Awards. Radio Warneford's entry is a 15-minute compilation of the highlights from the 35 Hour Marathon Broadcast which took place last November to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the station.

The Special Event award recognises a one off programme broadcast by the station. The judges look for entries that have brought a flavour of the event or occasion to the hospital bedside.

The 2009 Hospital Radio Awards ceremony will take place at the Hilton Hotel in Blackpool on Saturday 28th March as part of Hospital Broadcasting Week, with Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards for the top three entries in each category.

Ley Bricknell, Radio Warneford's Station Manager, says "Everyone did such a stunning job during our Marathon Broadcast, we just had to submit an entry for the competition. It is wonderful to be shortlisted and we are looking forward to attending the Awards Ceremony in March. To win would be a fantastic end to our 35th anniversary year."

Radio Warneford was a National Finalist in the Station Of The Year Award category at the Hospital Radio Awards in 1996.
