Volunteers Week 2007
Quiz Night & Recruitment Campaign

Radio Warneford, the hospital radio service for South Warwickshire, will be celebrating Volunteers' Week 2007 with a new campaign to recruit more volunteer members and a Quiz Night at Kenilworth Cricket Club.

Over 22 million people1 are involved in volunteering in the UK every year and Volunteers' Week is an opportunity for organisations like Radio Warneford to publicly recognise the work of their volunteers. It also aims to raise the awareness of the benefits of giving time, inspiring a new generation of volunteers. Volunteers' Week is co-ordinated in England by Volunteering England and runs from 1st to 7th June each year.

On Saturday 2nd June, Radio Warneford will be hosting a special Quiz Night to celebrate Volunteers' Week at the Kenilworth Cricket Club on Glasshouse Lane, starting at 7.15pm. The Quiz, for teams of up to five people, includes a series of general knowledge, music and picture rounds. There is a prize for the winning team, who also have their name engraved on our prestigious Meanley Shield.

We will be providing a buffet meal and there will be a licensed bar available. You'll have the chance to win some excellent prizes in our Raffle and pick up a bargain or two in the CD Sale. Tickets must be bought in advance and cost £6 per person. Email us at quiz@radiowarneford.com indicating how many tickets you require and whether any of your party would like a vegetarian buffet.

Radio Warneford is currently looking for new volunteers to help by visiting the wards to talk with patients and collect requests. We have vacancies on most days of the week, but particularly on Saturdays and Sunday mornings. You must be over 18 to join us, although these positions would probably suit a more mature person who enjoys meeting and talking to new people and can work effectively as part of a small team.

Ley Bricknell, Radio Warneford's Station Manager, says "Radio Warneford is a really rewarding way to volunteer your time. And you don't have to know anything about broadcasting - we'll teach you all that. All you need is a couple of hours each week and bags of enthusiasm. Volunteering can give you an enormous sense of satisfaction, the chance to meet people from all walks of life and an opportunity to learn all about radio broadcasting."
