Christmas & New Year Radio Warneford's 2010 Christmas and New Year schedules offered patients almost 80 hours of programmes over the festive season from Christmas Eve right through to 3rd January 2011. The highlight was a special production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol adapted, produced, directed and performed by Radio Warneford's members.
We also broadcast two editions of our ever-popular Bedside Bingo game. Here are the lucky winners! You can click on each of the pictures to see a larger version.
Afghan Heroes' Charity Single Radio Warneford's Jude Ratcliffe has been to interview Anton Lorien (left) and John Simons who have recorded a song, We Are The Brits to raise money for the charity Afghan Heroes.

Radio Warneford Christmas Stall Radio Warneford opened up its Christmas Stall near to the Outpatients Department on two separate days in November and early December. The stall offered visitors the chance to buy seasonal stationery, Christmas cards and gifts. More than £450 was raised for the station over the two days, a fantastic result.
Radio Warneford Players
The Radio Warneford Players held their first run-through meeting on Saturday 2nd October. The group are recording a special version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol for Radio Warneford's forthcoming Christmas Schedule.

The Radio Warneford Grand Draw
Radio Warneford's 2010 Grand Draw took place on Saturday 11th September at Warwick Market. We had wonderful support from local people and, including the tickets we sold on the day, we raised a fantastic total of over £1,500.

The BIG Music Weekend
Radio Warneford marked the end of summer with a fantastic BIG Music Weekend - 35 hours of continuous broadcasting celebrating a huge variety of musical styles.
Amongst the programmes on air over the weekend were those featuring pop, rock, jazz, classical, big band, easy listening, soul & country music.
Two Request Shows and many competitions ensured that there were plenty of contributions from patients on the wards.
HBA Long Service Award Radio Warneford member and former Chairman Keith Black has received a Hospital Broadcasting Association Long Service Award in recognition of his 30 years of service to Radio Warneford. The certificate was presented to Keith at the station's Annual General Meeting by current Chairman Sara Lister.
Keith thanked Sara and said it had been a very rewarding 30 years. He said it was not about being a DJ but about engaging with patients and the response you get from them which, in itself, is reward enough.
Volunteers Week "Extra Mile" Awards A number of Radio Warneford's members were presented with Volunteers Week "Extra Mile" Awards at the 2010 Annual General Meeting in recognition of the work they do behind the scenes at the station.
From left to right: Louise Drinkhall (for all her work liaising with Sainsburys who have sponsored a number of our events), Rob Phillips (for taking over Radio Warneford's accounts and saving the station a lot of money in the process), Trish Moore (for her interviewing of new members and ward training), Cliff Proctor (for his production work and selling so many raffle tickets for the Grand Draw), Sue Andrews (for taking the minutes at the Committee meetings), Ley Bricknell (for masterminding the relaunch of Radio Warneford's MacGregor Ward Request Show), Sara Lister (Radio Warneford's Chairman), Valda Reid (for keeping many of the teams on the go by being our 'filler' presenter) and Paul Kalus (for his work on a new library computer system). One other member who wasn't able to be present also received an Extra Mile award - Claire Brewster who obtained a 'matching scheme' cheque for £500 for Radio Warneford from her employers Landrover Jaguar.
Snitterfield Village Fête Radio Warneford has taken part in the annual Snitterfield Village Fête and once again it was a fantastic day out for all the family - including our four-legged friends.
Radio Warneford Quiz & Awards Night The 2010 Radio Warneford Awards & Quiz Night took place at The Kenilworth Wardens Cricket Club on Saturday 5th June.
There was a very hard-fought battle for the coveted Meanley Trophy, won eventually for the second year running by the Wednesday Wizards.
Sainsbury's Community Fund Manager Nicola Wackett was our special guest this year - Nicola presented the certificates to all of our lucky award-winning members.

MacGregor Ward Patient Harry Oldridge
Radio Warneford received this picture from a former MacGregor Ward patient along with the following message from his mum! Harry Oldridge was in hospital between 9th and 11th May. He enjoyed having a request played on the radio and wanted to draw a picture of him listening to it! So, here is Harry's picture of himself in his hospital bed, listening to the radio with headphones. Thanks for cheering up a little boy with a broken arm!
Radio Warneford Remembers Matt Monro Radio Warneford's 2010 Easter schedule included a very special programme celebrating the life of British star Matt Monro. It marked the 25th anniversary of his death and the 50th anniversary of his first hit record, Portrait Of My Love.
As well as remembering some of Matt Monro's greatest hits, presenters Louise Drinkhall and Paul Kalus went to meet Matt's daughter Michele who had just published a new book entitled The Singer's Singer: The Life And Music Of Matt Monro. Michele told us all about her dad and his music and chose some rare recordings for us to enjoy.

Easter Egg Tombola Radio Warneford's Easter Egg Tombola took place at the the Sainsbury's store, Shires Retail Park, Leamington Spa on Saturday 13th March.
This year's event was a fantastic success, the most successful for many years, raising over £900.
Radio Warneford would like to thank Sainsbury's in Leamington Spa for allowing us to hold our Tombola in their store. Sainsbury's staff donated eggs for our stall. We would also like to thank everyone who came along to support us.
Danielle Is A Winner With Radio Warneford MacGregor Ward patient Danielle Stevens became a Radio Warneford winner recently. Danielle had been in and out of hospital, so winning a prize really cheered her up.
Danielle cleverly managed to answer the following question - "Michael Jackson was the King of Pop, Madonna the Queen of Pop but who was the King of Rock 'n' Roll?" Answer: Elvis Presley
