It's Christmas On MacGregor Ward Sainsbury's and Radio Warneford helped Santa bring some Christmas cheer to the MacGregor Childrens Ward at Warwick Hospital on 21st December.
Elf Jane Rowan (left), the Customer Services Manager for Sainsbury's Leamington Spa, was joined by Louise Drinkhall (behind Santa), Santa's little helper and Radio Warneford's Treasurer, to help Santa give out presents to the children. The gifts were all donated by customers to the Sainsbury's Leamington Spa store. The children are Barnaby Blair (baby), Joseph Froggett (right), Alexandra Dowling-Fennell (front left) and Keira Holmes (front right).
Graeme Meanley MBE Legacy Graeme Meanley MBE has left Radio Warneford a substantial legacy in his will. The former Chairman and Life President, who died in July 2010, has bequeathed £10,000 to be invested to secure Radio Warneford's future while the interest can be used to the benefit of the station.
Graeme's widow Joan and son Andrew visited Radio Warneford on 28th November to meet members and present a cheque to the Trustees. Find out more by reading our news release

Christmas Is Coming...! The Radio Warneford Players have been busy in the studio recording another radio play. A special version of Sweeney Todd will be broadcast as part of our 2011 Christmas & New Year schedule which begins on Christmas Eve.
The Players first play, A Christmas Carol, was a big success during Christmas 2010.
Radio Warneford Grand Draw 2011
Radio Warneford's 2011 Grand Draw took place on Saturday 3rd September at Warwick Market. We had wonderful support from local people and, including the tickets we sold on the day, we raised over £1,200. Here is a list of the lucky prize winners in our 2011 Draw:

Volunteers Week "Extra Mile" Awards At our 2011 Annual General Meeting, a number of Radio Warneford's members were presented with Volunteers Week "Extra Mile" Awards in recognition of the work they do behind the scenes at the station.
From left to right: Viv Lambert (for taking part in many car boot sales to raise funds), Paul Kalus and Louise Drinkhall (for their hard work making the Easter Egg Tombola a great success), Paul Chand (for keeping Friday nights on air) and Doreen Chand (for taking on a lot of additional duties as well as organising prizes from local organisations for both the Easter Egg Tombola and the Grand Raffle Draw). Other members who weren't able to be present also received an Extra Mile award - Sandra Grainger for selling a huge number of tickets for the Grand Raffle Draw, Victoria Bourne who obtained a 'matching scheme' from her employers and Adrian Newell who works tirelessly to entertain the crowds each year at the Snitterfield Village Fête.
Snitterfield Village Fête
Snitterfield held its annual Village Fête on Sunday 19th June.
Radio Warneford was there to provide the PA and organise the games.
The theme this year was Pirates and many visitors entered into the spirit of the day by dressing up for the occasion and taking part in a Treasure Hunt and other fantastic games.

The Radio Warneford Quiz & Awards Night Radio Warneford's 2011 Quiz & Awards Night took place at The Wardens in Kenilworth on Saturday 7th May. With 203 points on offer and an amazing 21 teams taking part, the quiz was a hard-fought affair.
Eventually, The Blurters, a team from the Union Office at Warwick Hospital, emerged triumphant to take the Meanley Shield with a score of 168!
Second came the Sundowners with 165 and the third-placed team were Technical Hitch with 163. Here is the complete score sheet (PDF - 31KB)
Our guest of honour this year was Channel 5 News presenter and Radio Warneford member Polly Whitehouse (below left) who presented broadcasting and long service awards to some lucky members of the Radio Warneford team.

Easter Bedside Bingo
Lisa Coleman of Castle Ward was the lucky winner of Radio Warneford's Easter Monday Bedside Bingo game.
The Easter Egg Tombola
Radio Warneford held its Easter Egg Tombola at the Sainsbury's store in Leamington Spa on Saturday 16th April.
The event, sponsored by Sainsbury's, was a fantastic success raising a total of £876.93!

Audrey from Kenilworth really enjoyed listening to Radio Warneford. She asked if she could have something as a reminder of us so team member Katrina Stevenson took Audrey a Radio Warneford mug!
Alexanderinda Hatherley (left above) enjoyed her request of Summer Holiday. The Sunday evening team then played Congratulations as it was her 90th birthday! Happy Birthday Alexanderinda. Christine Russell rang from her bedside with two minutes to go before the end of the show wanting to hear An American Trilogy by Elvis. She asked if she could have a second - Quo with Rocking All Over The World. Christine said that she was so thrilled to have a request played that she was like an over-excited child listening to it!! The Sunday evening team took both listeners a Radio Warneford mug as a momento of their request.
Roy from Farries ward left a request on the Radio Warneford Patient Line. One of our Request Show presenters went to see Roy and found out that he was in a band and was a real font of knowledge when it came to classical music. The New Tuesday Treatment Radio Warneford's long-running Tuesday Treatment show launched a new format on 1st March. One of the new features introduced to the show is a regular exercise slot called "Physio Time" which has been produced in association with the Physiotherapy Department at Warwick Hospital.

Radio Warneford is back on-air on Friday evenings! We have a new team of enthusiastic volunteers who give up their Friday nights each week to provide programmes for patients including a new Friday night Request Show.
